- Castlegar Hospice Proposal Receives Provincial Award
- Suzanne Lehbauer, Executive Director of the Castlegar Hospice
Society was recently awarded the BC Hospice Palliative Care Association & Sovereign
Order of St. John of Jerusalem Award Recognizing End-of-Life Care for British
Columbians. The award recognizes projects which will provide direct care to
patients and families receiving end-of life-care.
- Lehbauer was recognized for
her proposal for a three-component grief counselling project consisting of
one-to-one counselling, group counselling and an eight week bereavement walk
program. The new program is open to people from Castlegar and surrounding areas
as space permits. All services will be free.
- “We are grateful for all that Suzanne has accomplished and I’m glad she received
such a prestigious award in recognition of her excellent service to the people
of this community at times when they need it the most,” said Spencer Buckland,
Health Services Administrator for Castlegar.
